So here is how it is going to go. This is pretty much you typical baby pool. You’re going to leave a comment below with your prediction for the baby’s due date, due time, and weight. There will be one prize for the person that gets the closest in each category (with the other categories being the tie breakers). The person that is the closest to all three will win a grand prize. I’ll give out a grand and runner-up prize for the people that are closest to the delivery time (weight will be used in the case of ties).  The person who is the farthest off from all three will win the grand un-prize (my kids first dirty diaper).

Do you want to know what the prizes are? Well tell them Bob….

Ok so I don’t have that figured out yet, but I’ll get together with Shannon and I’ll update you in the future.

Grand Prize: $10 Starbuck Gift Card
Runner-Up: $5 Starbuck Gift Card

(Sorry it’s all I have)

To answer a few questions in advance:

The due date is June 1st.
No this isn’t an April Fools joke (I just happened to come up with the idea today).
No you can’t exchange you’re prize for something else.
This isn’t The Price is Right…you can guess over.
You must predict all three, or you will be disqualified.
If you don’t put am/pm, it will be assumed you meant am.
Any other questions can be sent to me via my contact form.

Alright…get to guessing.

This is just a little somethin’ somethin’ I put together to remember yesterday’s AIDS Walk. We had about 30 (Shannon says 40-50) people show up from our church to walk, hand out water, and pray with people. It was an awesome experience and I can’t wait to do it again.

Where have all the comments gone?

So as I’ve been blogging over the past few years, I’ve noticed a trend that I don’t know what to think about.  There has been a significant drop in the number of comments (at least that I recieve).

I don’t know why this is.  Does my writting style lead to people being passive readers?  Are my posts not commentable?  Are people to lazy to write something back?  Is the comment form to hard to fill out?

I really don’t have a clue.  My stats tell me that I have a steady flow of people reading my blog.  But the number of people who comment are nearly non-existant.  Like my dog asking for a treat, I have to beg to get comments (hence this post).   The top commenter on my blog has commented on three posts (you go Dave).

I really don’t know why no one wants to comment on my site.  The same is true for Shannon and her blog.  She’s only had three people leave her a comment since she sarted (and technically mine doesn’t count).

So whats the deal people.  Are you afraid?  Is my writting so intimidating and perfect that you can’t leave a comment.  I’m just going to assume this until you prove me otherwise.

So until next time, have a good day you pansy non-commentators.

10 Thoughts from a Tired Traveler

The open road

For those of you that don’t know, I work for UPS doing sales.  I know it might seem like I blog and twitter all day long, but I do work.  I don’t travel a lot for my job, but every once and awhile I do have to have some major windsheild time.  Twice a year, for sure, I have to visit all the UPS Stores in Southern New Mexico.  That is why I’m in Las Cruces right now passing the time by writting this blog.

As I spent close to eight hours today staring out the windshield trying not to swerve off the road into the ditch to end my misery, I had some time to think.  Here are a few thoughts from my day.

  1. When they have the signs on the side of the road showing the restaurants that are at the next exit, they should put the phone number to that restaurant on there too. This way you can order before you get there. Cause God knows you have no desire to wait in line behind Billy Bob’s Ford truck with the lift kit and gun rack to get your hamburger that has been in the warming been for five hours.
  2. I would pay to use the bathroom if I knew that it would be clean.  I swear why do people use public restrooms if all they are going to do is pee on the floor.  Just go outside…you don’t have to get a key for that.
  3. Why is it the gas stations in New Mexico have 12 types of whiskey, but doesn’t carry Rock Star Energy Drink?
  4. New Mexico has a lot of long straight roads.  They should set up inflatable bumpers like they have at the bowling alley for little kids on either side of the roads.  This way I can set the cruise control and take a nap.
  5. There is a freaking AUX button on the radio in my rental car…but where the hell am I suppose to plug in said AUX device!  It’s a freaking conspiracy!  There should be a law passed to make iPod docks standard in all new cars.  Enough said!
  6. There sure is a lot of dead grass in New Mexico.  Somebody really should water our state more.
  7. Why does one butt cheak always go to sleep before the other one?
  8. If all the worlds population can move comfortable into the state of Texas, why aren’t we starting to move everyone there?  It sure would make things easier.
  9. Ohhh yeah.  It’s Texas.  That’s why. :)
  10. I sure do miss Shannon.

I’m going on a Big Trip

Changing of the Gaurds

I don’t know if you’re like me, but I’m the type of person who likes to rearrange their house every few months. That’s why when Shannon said, “we should redo the office and put the desk here and the bed here…” I was all for it. Well I’m starting to see that I’m the same way with my web site. A few months ago I switched from Joomla to WordPress (before that it was from MySpace to my own domain).

Now I want to change the look of my web site. I’m just feeling like it is too cluttered and that it doesn’t fit my personality (the logo looks like it could be for a Fortune 500 company). So I’ve been kicking around the idea of redesigning the look of my site. I’m going to try to keep the same clean look, but go with a little more grunge of a feel to it (it makes sense in my head). I don’t know though.

Here is my question to all 10 of my loyal readers…do you think I should go with a different look for the site? Do you feel like the current one fits my personality? If you where to change my site, how would you change it? Let me know what you think in the comments below (don’t send me an email through my contact page Jason). My mind is pretty set on changing…but maybe you can change my mind…man that’s a lot of change.

Hey if you haven’t heard yet, my wife has her own blog now.  You can check it out at ShannonQualls.com.  She wanted one for her birthday.  So, I hooked her up.  Her most recent blogs are a political rant that I must say is pretty darn funny.  So check it out and leave her lots of comments.

Five principles that will change your life.

Shannon and I came across Dave Ramsey a few years ago when we were starting to go down a slippery slope financially. Dave Ramsey changed our lives. Since then we have saved a small emergency fund, gotten out of debt (I know it’s hard to believe…but we don’t have car payments), and been able to help others do the same. We love to buy his book and give it out to whoever we can. The following is a short video that explain Dave’s principles. Check it out and then check him out.

At least God knows what He’s doing… Part 5

The following is part 5 of a 5 part series. Go here for Part 1

I started to head to the security check point that I came through the first time about 500 feet down the hallway.  My mind was racing.

I remember putting it in my back pocket.  Maybe it fell out when I sat down at Starbucks.  Maybe it’s in the men’s restroom.  How the hell am I going to get it back?  Their not going to let me in and I’m going to be stuck in Seattle for ever.  I don’t want to be stuck in Seattle I just want to home and see Shannon.

“Excuse me sir…I think I might have left my driver’s license here when I came through security the first time.”
“We have a driver’s license that we found.  What’s your name?”
“Greg Qualls”
“Let me go look.”

Why the hell did I go get Diego’s Bible?  They could have mailed it to him. If I had just stayed in the airport I wouldn’t be dealing with all this right now.  God why didn’t you just have Diego not forget his Bible in the van…I would be probably sipping on some coffee right now still reading my book…

But I wouldn’t have realized that I didn’t have my driver’s license…then I would have to go through all the crap to get a new driver’s license.  And I would have to pay the money for the new driver’s license.  And I would have to deal with the DMV.

So I guess it is a good thing that I did go and get it. Thanks God for having Diego forget his Bible in the van…wait a second.  God why didn’t you just make sure that Diego didn’t forget his Bible and make sure that I didn’t loose my driver’s license.  I would still be sitting in Starbucks reading my book.

“Here you go sir…just sign hear and print your name her.”
“Thank you sir.”

As I walked to the TSA agent and finally handed him my driver’s license and boarding pass for the second time in the last hour, I began to think to myself…God really does work in mysterious ways.

And I heard in the quiet of my heart, “Yes I do…and I’m good.”  I don’t know why God had me go through this little adventure.  There could be several reasons.  All I know was that, in the end, I felt the hand of God working through all of it.  I felt His plan being worked out in my life and I felt drawn closer to Him.

At least He knows what He’s doing, because the majority of the time I don’t have a clue.
