FriendFeed
Ok so I generally like to take Wednesday’s to introduce a new web site or piece of technology that I like, use, or want. So today’s submission is FriendFeed.com. If you’re like me, you use several different social networking sites (facebook, twitter, flickr, ect.). And keeping up with your friends in each one is kind of hard. You have to go to each one every day to see if your friends are doing anything new. This is where FriendFeed comes to the rescue.
FriendFeed allows you to set up a feed to share with all of your friends that includes your activity at all of your social networking sites. This way they can go to one place and see what you are doing at all of the sites. It’s kind of like a feed reader for your social networking sites. The one nice feature that I like about it also is that you can set up imaginary friends.
Yes you heard me right imaginary friends. This way if one of your friends (or most of your friends if you’re like me) don’t want to use FriendFeed you can set up and imaginary friend in their place and add their social networking activity to see what they are doing. You’re able to bypass having them sign up. Imaginary friends rock cause you get to make them just the way you want them (unless you’re like me and your imaginary friends no longer want to be your friend and decide to be a male model instead).
So check out FriendFeed.com if you do a lot of social networking or if you want to have an army of imaginary friends.
P.S. Don’t forget to add me as a friend!

ShannonQualls.com
Hey if you haven’t heard yet, my wife has her own blog now. You can check it out at ShannonQualls.com. She wanted one for her birthday. So, I hooked her up. Her most recent blogs are a political rant that I must say is pretty darn funny. So check it out and leave her lots of comments.

Is this like loving yourself?
So the other day I told you about how Mark Driscoll could no longer take anymore friends because he had maxed out. To remedy this little problem Mark set up a fan page. He even did a video letting people know that they could now be his fan. But the one thing I didn’t expect to see was this when I opened my Facebook today:

I couldn’t help but to laugh out loud when I saw this. I’m thinking about making my own Facebook page now so I can be a fan of myself. I don’t know what are your thoughts?

Tech in Plain Language
So I’ve been getting some questions here lately about RSS and Twitter. So I thought about trying to explain them…but I found these videos which do a much better job. Check them out and then start following me on twitter (twitter.com/gregqualls).

I’m the worst of all sinners!
No I’m not going to confess some horrible crime that I’ve committed. But I must say that I learned something the other day from a good friend that opened my eyes. On Saturday I had breakfast with a few of my friends and one of the things that came up was the realization of our sins.
Now I grew up with an understanding that as you grew in Christ you sinned less and therefore you noticed less sin in your life (can you say run-on sentence). But my friend Paul Ford pointed out that is only half true. Yes we grow closer to Christ and become more like Him, but we only grow in the realization of how sinful we are. Everyday we grow closer to Jesus, we see how much more of sinner we are.
Paul pointed out how in the Apostle Paul’s writing’s the apostle grew in his recognition of his own sin. Early in his ministry Paul says he’s a sinner. Later he says he is the worst of the twelve, and late in his ministry he tells Timothy that he is the worst of all (or chief for you KJV people out there). This comes from the guy who wrote a huge chunk of the Bible.
I think we need to rewrite the books (I don’t know what books…just the books). The reality is that we as we grow closer to Jesus we only see how dirty we really are. But the great thing is that He is faithful to forgive us and clean us up. The answer is not to ignore our sin…but to ask daily for it to be revealed and then to rest in the grace, mercy and love our our heavenly Father.

I’m in the “In Crowd”

So for one of the first times in my life I’m in the “In Crowd.” Yesterday Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church in Seattle posted a video on his Facebook letting everyone know that he had capped out on the number of friends that he could have. Apparently Facebook only allows you to have 5,000 friends (I don’t think I would ever find this out), and he hit the limit. Now I’m normally not one to be prideful (yeah right), but I must say it feels kinda cool to know that I’m a friend with Mark Driscoll on Facebook and nobody else can do that now.
I know it’s lame…but you’re only saying that because you aren’t one of the 5,000.

Five principles that will change your life.
Shannon and I came across Dave Ramsey a few years ago when we were starting to go down a slippery slope financially. Dave Ramsey changed our lives. Since then we have saved a small emergency fund, gotten out of debt (I know it’s hard to believe…but we don’t have car payments), and been able to help others do the same. We love to buy his book and give it out to whoever we can. The following is a short video that explain Dave’s principles. Check it out and then check him out.

Tat Splat

It seems like tattoos are popping up all around me. I was reading a blog post the other day by a guy who had people send him pictures of their tattoos. And just this morning one of the lady’s at work could barely put her jacket on because of her resent tat. So I decided it was a sign from God that I needed to display mine to the world.
When I was a freshmen in college it was the very trendy thing to get a tattoo (I think it still is for some reason). It was also the trend at the time to do tribal tattoos. Not wanting to be like everyone else I decided that I was going to do something other than JUST a tribal tattoo. I was going to add a cross into the picture (witch is just as trendy). I have to say that I’m very happy with what I have though. I have people ask me all the time if I regret it, and I just have to say that I can’t do anything about it. So I enjoy it. My tat is part of who I am and a constant reminder of what has been done for me.
And yes it hurts.

Genius!!!
In my attempts to avoid doing work, I came across this plugin for WordPress that automatically posts your new articles to MySpace when you publish them. Since half of my reading audience comes from MySpace (seriously get a feed reader), I spend a lot of time reposting on MySpace every time I write something. So this has been a blessing from God. If you use MySpace and WordPress, get this plugin.
